Pneumonia is inflammation and consolidation of the lung parenchyma due to an infectious agent. Mostly bacteria are the cause of pneumonia. However, viruses, fungi and parasites can also cause pneumonia. Symptoms are respiratory system complaints such as cough, sputum, chest pain and dyspnea. Chest radiographs are helpful both in diagnosis, in differentiating other pathologies that mimic pneumonia, and in detecting accompanying pathologies and complications (empyema, abscess, etc.).
