Diabetes has become a significant public health challenge both globally and in Turkey. Worldwide, the prevalence of diabetes has been steadily rising, with approximately 537 million adults living with the condition as of 2021. The burden is particularly high in low- and middle-income countries, where access to healthcare and resources for diabetes management may be limited. In Turkey, diabetes prevalence has also been increasing, driven by factors such as urbanization, sedentary lifestyles, and dietary changes. According to recent estimates, around 13% of adults in Turkey have diabetes, reflecting a substantial health concern that necessitates comprehensive prevention and management strategies tailored to local needs and conditions.
