CMV infection is widespread throughout the world and the risk of transmission between people through body secretions is high. During pregnancy, not only primary infections but also non-primary infections can be transmitted transplacental to the baby. It can cause serious mortality and morbidity in the fetus/newborn and is the most important cause of neurosensory hearing loss. There are new treatment motivations for this disease, for which there is no vaccine to date. Although current guidelines do not routinely recommend universal treatment, targeted therapy is important during pregnancy.
