Cerebral palsy is an umbrella term for motor, sensory, postural and cognitive problems caused by permanent damage to the developing brain before, during and after birth. The early onset of motor problems in cerebral palsy may result in the overlooking of other common problems, such as accompanying pain, visual perception, cognitive difficulties and gastrointestinal issues. It is crucial to address the accompanying problems of children and adults with cerebral palsy in a holistic manner in order to improve their quality of life and social participation.
