Diabetes Mellitus (DM) receives significant attention from most scientists due to being a major global public health threat. Diabetes is considered one of the leading causes of death due to its micro and macrovascular complications. This insidious killer is estimated to reach a staggering number of 578 million (700 million by 2045) cases by 2030.
In this book, utilizing the disciplines of clinical sciences, various contemporary topics related to diabetes are extensively discussed. These include the classification of diabetes, underlying causes, epidemiology, pathogenesis, impact on sexual functions, association with cancer, clinical manifestations, diagnostic methods, complications, and treatment options. Furthermore, intriguing and current subjects such as ""antidiabetic phytotherapy"" and ""the relationship between oral health and diabetes"" are also covered. By doing so, readers will acquire comprehensive and detailed knowledge about the clinical management of diabetes. Thus, this book not only serves those who seek to understand the scientific aspects of diabetes but also proves to be a valuable resource for healthcare professionals, researchers, and students in a clinical setting. 3He was born in Malatya in 1981. He is married and has two children. He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. He received his PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology from Ankara University Institute of Health Sciences in 2008. He received the title of Associate Professor in the field of Pharmacology in 2011 and Professor in 2020. He has supervised 5 master’s theses and 2 medical specialty consultancies. He has 21 projects in his field and has 41 articles in international and 20 national refereed journals. He has edited 4 international books and written chapters in 17 books. He currently serves as the head of the Department of Medical Pharmacology at KMU Faculty of Medicine.

3Prof. Dr. Murat Çetin Rağbetli is an accomplished MSc, PhD scientist with a career spanning over thirty years, marked by significant contributions in Histology, Diclofenac Sodium, Experimental Diabetes, Neurohistology, and Stereological applications. His scholarly endeavors include over 100 research articles, oral and poster presentations, several books and reviews, and the supervision of 15 research projects. From 1999 to 2000, he conducted Stereological and Electron Microscopic research on hippocampal neural plasticity at the Department of Neurobiology in Milton Keynes, England, supported by a scholarship from "The Wellcome Trust". He also served as a Research Fellow at the Open University Neuroscience in London. Dr. Rağbetli later led the Embryology Laboratory as the head of the In Vitro Fertilization Unit of the Assisted Reproductive Treatment Center (ÜYTE) at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Gülhane Military Medical Academy. He is an active member of prestigious academic associations including the Stereological Sciences Association, Brain Research and Neurosciences (TUBAS) Association (both national and international chapters), Turkish Histology and Embryology Association, and Turkish Electron Microscopy Association. Currently, he holds the position of Department Head of Basic Medical Sciences at Karamanoğlu University Faculty of Medicine. Dr. Rağbetli is married with two children and is fluent in Turkish.

3Born in Ankara, Asst. Prof. Dr. Hale Koksoy completed her secondary education at Aydınlıkevler High School in Ankara and subsequently graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Science, Department of Biology. She worked as a Responsible Specialist Biologist at the multidisciplinary laboratories of Ankara’s private Bayındır Hospital Söğütözü for 14 years. During her tenure at Bayındır Hospital, she earned her master’s degree in Biology from Ankara University and later completed her doctoral studies in Biology jointly supervised by Gazi University, Faculty of Science and Medicine. In 2010, she was appointed as a Specialist Doctor at Selçuk University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology. She served as a Lecturer Doctor until February 5, 2021. From February 8, 2021 onwards, she has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Medical Biology, Faculty of Medicine, Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, where she currently holds a position. Dr. Hale Koksoy has 6 published articles, delivered a total of 26 oral presentations and 2 poster presentations, contributed 11 completed book chapters, completed 4 projects, and edited 4 books. She has actively participated in numerous official meetings and congresses and has obtained certifications in her field through various courses. She has also served as a member of Congress Organizing Committees, a member of PhD juries, and as a referee for SCI journals and TR index journals. Her current research focuses on cell culture. She is proficient in Turkish and English and continues her academic career as a faculty member at Karamanoğlu Mehmetbey University, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Medical Biology.
