This chapter deals with marriage processes and the emotional and psychological states experienced by couples during these processes. Love and affection form the basis of relationships, and the dating period is the process of couples getting to know each other and taking the relationship to marriage. According to Alan Lee’s "Colors of Love" theory, there are three basic forms of love: passionate love (eros), playful love (ludus) and friendly love. These three styles of love form the basis of other love styles. Additionally, attachment styles also affect relationship dynamics; such as secure attachment, preoccupied attachment, dismissive attachment and fearful attachment. The engagement process is a stage where the marriage proposal is accepted and families are involved, where couples have the opportunity to get to know each other better. The engagement process is a larger and more crowded event and is a period in which families and relatives recognize the relationship. For a healthy relationship and marriage, it is important for couples to know each other and achieve emotional and logical harmony. Secure attachment and empathy in the premarital period strengthens the relationship. When couples show love, respect and value to each other, their relationships become healthier and more permanent. This document aims to help couples understand the challenges they may face on the road to marriage and how they can overcome these challenges.
